Derek is an aggressive firearms and criminal defense lawyer based out of Scottsdale, Arizona. After leaving the Marine Corps, having served nearly a decade as a Marine Infantryman and Combat Instructor, Derek worked as a professional law enforcement firearms instructor and executive protection specialist providing personal protection services to clients in the Scottsdale, Arizona area. Derek then attended law school at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, where he graduated with distinction for pro bono service and was recognized as a Trial Advocacy Fellow of the College of Law. After law school, Derek worked as a prosecutor, where he prosecuted a wide range of cases – everything from DUI to homicide.

As a firearms enthusiast, Derek is very familiar with the laws pertaining to firearms at the state, local, and federal levels. In addition to practicing law, Derek is on the board of several non-profits and enjoys playing chess in his free time.
