2024 VA Disability Rates

Posted on October 23, 2023 in

Every year, based on finalized data for the consumer price index, the Department of Veterans Affairs (the VA) adjusts the amount of VA disability benefits monthly compensation that qualified disabled veterans can receive for service-connected injuries, illnesses, or medical conditions.

This benefit amount adjustment is based on the same cost of living adjustment (COLA) schedule that the Social Security Administration uses to set its annual cost of living adjustments for recipients of monthly Social Security benefits.

On October 12, 2023, the Social Security Administration announced that the SSI cost of living adjustment for Social Security monthly payments benefits in 2024 will be 3.2 percent, with the official benefits rate increase to become effective in January 2024.

VA disability rates rising by 3.2%

Accordingly, in its official rate increase the VA will raise VA disability compensation amounts by the same percentage for the same year.

The monthly payout charts below are unofficial estimates pending release of the official rates in December of 2023, but they factor in the anticipated 3.2 percent VA monthly disability benefit amounts for 2024.
